It is time for all of us to take part in recognizing the
issues involved in fibromyalgia and the hope we have
of finding relief from its symptoms.
Greetings!
A Letter from Patrick B. Wood, MD
It is exciting for me to be a part of the Angler
Biomedical project. Having recently completed a
year-long brain imaging study in Montreal, Canada, at
McGill University's Centre for Research on Pain, I can
say with little hesitation that we are indeed standing
on the very threshold of truly understanding the
underlying pathology of this mysterious disorder
known as "fibromyalgia". While the research reports
are being written, I am not yet at liberty to discuss
the specifics of that project. What I can tell
you is that the fibromyalgia brain functions, at a
fundamental level, in a way that is very
different from the brains of individuals who do not
have the condition. In fact, the brain of someone
with fibromyalgia functions in a fashion that makes
sense of the bewildering symptoms that make up the
disorder --
especially the pain.
It is then my sincere hope that those of you reading
these words will seriously consider watching Angler's
video Fibromyalgia: Show Me Where it Hurts.
As medical consultant to the project, I can assure
you that by watching this material, you will gain
tremendous insights into some of the most cutting-
edge research and see for yourself the direction
in which fibromyalgia as a medical entity is headed.
And stay tuned -- there is plenty more coming in the
very near future! -PBW
