Angler Biomedical Technologies, LLC Announces
'Fibromyalgia: Show Me Where It Hurts' video
Orange County, CA -
March 3, 2006
The nature of Fibromyalgia, a disorder characterized by chronic widespread pain, tenderness to even the
lightest touch, and chronic fatigue, has remained one of medical science's most enduring mysteries.
Angler Biomedical Technologies announces the release of their newest video illustrating the very
latest research discoveries: that the origins of this
life-robbing disorder are to be found in the chemistry of the brain.
Narrative
The National Fibromyalgia Association is hosting
the “Fibromyalgia 2006, National Patient Conference”
March 17-19, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency in Orange
County. Among the many speakers and experts
presenting at that meeting will be Patrick Wood, MD.
Dr. Wood has received international attention for his
cutting-edge research into the nature of fibromyalgia.
While the nature of the pathology underlying
fibromyalgia has remained one of medical science’s
most enduring mysteries, recent insights gained by
the application of new brain imaging technologies are
changing that. In fact, Dr. Wood’s research has
taken our understanding of the nature of fibromyalgia
into a whole new dimension: that of brain chemistry
and specifically, how the synthesis and release of
the neurotransmitter dopamine, one of the brain’s
major pain-coping mechanisms, is greatly altered in
patients afflicted with fibromyalgia. Dr Wood is the
originator of the ‘Dopamine Theory of Fibromyalgia,’
which will be featured in presentation at both the
FAME and CME outreaches of the up-coming NFA
conference. Dr. Wood intends to demonstrate the
manner in which a disruption in brain dopamine may
result in the bewildering symptoms that characterize
fibromyalgia.
In order to keep both patients and physicians
informed of these exciting advances, Angler
Biomedical Technologies, LLC, has partnered with
Eleven72 Productions to produce “Fibromyalgia: Show
Me Where It Hurts.” This educational video features
computer animation, along with expert commentary,
that graphically demonstrates these changes in brain
structure and function. Also featured are a number
of patient testimonials of their experience of
fibromyalgia and recovery from its debilitating impact,
thereby offering a renewed sense of hope for the
millions of people afflicted by this disorder
worldwide. The video is scheduled to premier at the
National Fibromyalgia Association’s up-coming
National Patient Conference on March 17, 2006.
